What is the difference between the proposed EQUIPMENT_CATEGORY_CHASSIS
and the existing EQUIPMENT_CATEGORY_SUBRACK
?
After discussion the differences between SUBRACK, CHASIS ODU are not clear - description should be added to the Enumeration values
BACKPLANE POWER_UNIT BATTERY FAN CENTRAL_PROCESSING_UNIT STORAGE_DRIVE SENSOR MODEM PORT_EXPANSION_BOARD OUTDOOR_UNIT NOT_YET_DEFINED
Decision during the 5G-xhaul call on 3rd of May 2023: It is proposed not to add identities for chassis and board, because they are already covered by existing definitions:
To overcome the problem of uncertainty about their meaning, all entities augmented to the EquipmentCategory enumeration that have been taken from the IETF RFC8348 shall be complemented by
This applies on:
For the same reason, the following augments to the EquipmentCategory enumeration shall be complemented with the following comments:
MODEM with comment: "Modulator-demodulator for converting digital data into analog signals for transmission and vice versa."
PORT_EXPANSION_BOARD with comment: "A port expansion board is an add-on hardware component that increases the number of available physical connectors and logical interfaces."
OUTDOOR_UNIT with comment: "Externally mounted hardware component that contains a radio frequency (RF) transceiver. The outdoor unit communicates with the indoor unit (IDU) via an IF interface."
FULL_OUTDOOR_UNIT with comment: "Device that contains at least one pair of modem and radio frequency (RF) transceiver and might also contain switching functionality. The full outdoor unit provides payload interfaces (e.g. according to IEEE 802.3) for communicating with diverse kinds of devices."
Has been updated and published in EquipmentAugment_1.0.0-tsi.240104.1330+yang.1
It is proposed to cover the chassis and the boards, too.
