ERTMSFormalSpecs assessment by Assessor 2 / Language / translatability #36

Justify why 1 instead of 3 for "easely translateable to other languages", whereas it has been assessed as 3 by other assessor, Alstom, and you have provided no justification

MariellePetitDoche commented 11 years ago

"3" means translation to an other language involved in the project is already efficient and can be produce by an existing tools, thus if the language is chosen effort of translation in the project is poor. "2" means translation is defined in theory in a detailed specification for a language involved in the project but it is not yet possible to produce translation, thus if the language is chosen effort of translation in the project is medium. "1" means translation is theoretically possible due to the nature of the language, but no specification of this translation is provided, thus if the language is chosen effort of translation in the project is high : specification to define and tools to develop. "0" means translation is not possible.

By the way in the case of ETRMS formal spec no example and no specification is given, but as a DSL, translation to an other language can be defined.

Question has beeen raise in § C.8

stanpinteTheSignallingCompany commented 11 years ago

There is a fully complete and detailed specification of ERTMSFormalSpecs language available.

Moreover, SCADE team have evaluated automated translation to SCADE as being easy to do.

Therefore, I ask you to evaluate at least 2. (Whis is yet lower than Alstom assessment, which is 3). 1 is not acceptable and not justified.

MariellePetitDoche commented 11 years ago

Yes there is a specification of the ERTMS langugae, No there are no specification of how to trnaslate a EFS model to a C or Ada code for example.

Give me a link of such document : a detailled specification to how to translate EFs model to a model or code in the language you want.

Issue https://github.com/openETCS/ERTMSFormalSpecs/issues/112 covers the need of having a document to describe this translation from ERTMSFormalSpecs to an another language.

However, lack of a document cannot justify a 1 in that context.

Dear Marielle,

Can you please provide a reason to close this issue?

Very kind regards,

Stan
