User-oriented guides / manuals about SysML modelling with Papyrus #60

For efficiently getting started with SysML modeling with Papyrus I’m searching for a user-oriented “Getting started” tutorial and an appropriate user’s manual.

Unfortunately, the Papyrus Guide that comes with the Papyrus setup addresses only single aspects, and a google search ended unsatisfying with some slides and unfinished documents.

Who knows advisable documents referring to our central SysML theme ?

From @cyrilcornu :

Dear Uwe, I totally understand your need, and I think that such user-oriented guidelines will be necessary in order to model with Papyrus the right way, and the same way for all modelers. The point is that such a guideline should correspond as close as possible to the field of application (ERTMS OBU EVC), and to the methodology (System Engineering) that will supervise this Papyrus modelling activity. This guideline is what we aim to do, and there is on-going work with the CEA to propose such guidelines to our OpenETCS partners. We know that such guideline would ease a lot the work based on Papyrus, and thus is one of our greatest priority nowadays.

So far, this document was provided by Alexandre from All4tec, and gives an overview of what can be done by using Papyrus: https://github.com/openETCS/model-evaluation/tree/master/model/Papyrus-CEA-All4tec/papyrus_guidelines

We think that this is not user-oriented enough to help you, but maybe it could help to clarify some of your concerns.

Anyway, I think that a lot of questions will be raised in the frame of Papyrus Modeling, and some of them have already been discussed with Mathieu, Marielle, Alexander, David. In order to track these discussions, I propose you to use the issue facility under the model-evaluation repository here, and to tag these issue with the "Papyrus SysML question" label I just created.

Please feel free to ask questions or raise concerns about this point.

Very kind regards, Cyril

Dear Cyril, thank’s a lot to your anwer. It addresses exactly my difficulties or – to say it with Alexandres words from the Papyrus guidelines: “…the GUI is not very user friendly at the moment and it can be difficult to model efficiently without a good basic knowledge of the tool.” So I don’t want to waste time with searching around how to cope with the tool.

I expect that several participants starting with Papyrus now will raise similar questions. Therefore, their (and my) learning curve should be shortened, and I’m asking how to achieve this. Perhaps, a training course could help, and/or to find useful documentation. Do you have an idea?

Best Uwe

Uwe,

do you think the planned training will answer your question ?

UweSteinkeFromSiemens commented 10 years ago

I will be ablte to answer the question after the training.

T7.1 is about to being closed. Final activity is closing issues in this repository. Activities have been ended 6 months ago. Decisions are made for the openETCS toolchain. If there is stil an aspect open for this issue, please, useT7.3 for that purpose.
