DateTimeSpinner is very slow and not responsive both on iOS newVM=true and Android #1384

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. simply include a DateTimeSpinner in a Dialog and show it

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
responsive DateTimeSpinner, instead is very slow

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Android 4.2 and 2.3, iOS6, iOS8

Please provide any additional information below.
