Cannot conect to RX module, configurator immediately reports "Failed response from the RX module" and there is no countdown.

18:45:39 -- Trying to establish connection with the RX module 18:45:40 -- Failed response from the RX module 18:45:45 -- Trying to establish connection with the RX module 18:45:45 -- Failed response from the RX module 18:45:46 -- Trying to establish connection with the RX module 18:45:47 -- Failed response from the RX module 18:45:48 -- Trying to establish connection with the RX module 18:45:48 -- Failed response from the RX module 18:45:49 -- Trying to establish connection with the RX module 18:45:50 -- Failed response from the RX module

Hi, you could start with providing us with some useful info as what you posted isn't helpful at all.

Which modules are you using, operating system, firmware version on both modules, configurator version, did openlrsng worked fine on this hardware before ? etc etc

dmurray14 commented 10 years ago

Sure. I am using an OrangeRX (HobbyKing) 1W transmitter and a OrangeRX receiver. I have tried using 3.6.2 as well as manually installing the 3.5.6 configurator on both OSX and Windows, using a 3.3 TTL adapter. I can load the firmware just fine, adjust anything on the TX just fine, and I can bind to the RX just fine when I have the module in my actual transmitter. However, when I take it out of the transmitter, hook up the FTDI, and try and connect via the RX tab, it does what I posted above. It's like it's not even trying - the countdown never changes from 29 and it immediately throws the errors above each time I click retry. This is brand new hardware, I have never used it before.

Are you sure that you flashed the correct firmware on both of your units? since you are new to this, i recommend watching (well at last clicking through this video) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1iBB21b1N0o

because the behavior your are describing is either cause by faulty/burned rfm module (less likely), use of wrong firmware for the specific module (more likely), or doing something completely wrong on your side, since you don't have the experience with this modules.

Also if you are connecting to the TX module via serial and have the module outside of the module bay, it would be wise to power it from the battery not from the serial adapter.

Thanks Stefan, you nailed it with your last sentence. As soon as I powered it separately, it began working. Apologies for the noise.

No problem, i hope rest of the process will be trouble free :-)
