new Technique: for device “Synchrotron” #111

Open szafarnia opened 1 year ago

Dear all, Could you please register relevant technique(s) for the device “Synchrotron” in KG?

lzehl commented 1 year ago

I would say this is rather the device.

Techniques to add:

I think a Synchrotron would do "electrodynamic cyclical particle accelaration"

lzehl commented 1 year ago

@tgbugs any experience here?

lzehl commented 3 months ago

@tgbugs @UlrikeS91 we should pick this up again.

@ucbpclw would you support us in registering these techniques for the openMINDS terminology and the InterLex ontology?

ucbpclw commented 3 months ago

Him happy to help, I am a little lost in understanding how the openMINDS and InterLex ontology fit together, and under what context the "Synchrotron" is to be used.

The synchrotron in our context is a method to accelerate electrons in order to produce X-rays, those X-rays are used in a vast number of ways. There are beamlines at the synchrotrons, each of which uses the X-rays produced by the main accelerator in very different ways, each beamline can be considered an "instrument" and there are many techniques which these instruments cover. In the context of the openMINDS the use we have been developing is a type of X-ray Phase-contrast tomography.

If you give me a little more context I can probably make a better suggestion. I can also point you to the discussion ongoing on BIDS at the moment to incorporate HiP-CT as a form of X-ray Phase-contrast tomography into their meta data ontology... https://github.com/bids-standard/bids-specification/issues/1646
