Thanks for the submission. A version of this information will be added to the README as part of some upcoming refactoring to get to the 0.4 release. Where possible I plan to to minimize use of configuration options to the essentials in order to normalize packaging for easier bulk maintenance. Perhaps archive detection can be further improved. need to check tar_scm handling of existing repositories, if it doesn't handle that already I will file an issue. The advisory will be part of the FAQ section if needed.
