Hi, we do not recommend either a file manager or an image viewer as a core part of openSUSEway.
The openSUSEway package does contain Suggests:
for both vifm
and imv
, to give a general indication to users. Suggests
is the weakest form of RPM dependency, which will not be installed even by zypper install --recommends
.
As such, neither vifm
nor imv
are installed by default on an openSUSEway
install. That's why we do not provide a configuration file for either one.
I personally use imv
to a very limited extent, and I do not use vifm
at all. Perhaps someone else uses it and can help you configure it to use imv
.
I am not sure that we would like to add such configuration to openSUSEway by default, though. Other opinions welcome.

It seems even though imv is the recommended picture viewer by the pattern, vifm isn't set to use imv to open images.
As a result using the default file manager vifm and opening images (png etc) it displays binary data.
