Improved Hardware for existing Ubuntu Box #2

@dspencer-mawd we need to start thinking about giving the existing Ubuntu Box some more processing power and memory. Is that box a VM or is it on bare metal?

dspencer-kc commented 6 years ago

@SidHarder That box is a VM. The host physical server it is on is underpowered though. Looks like the 8GB of memory is about the max available. I can give you another virtual core, I'll just need to reboot.

I am working on a new host server to put this on. My plan was to have that going in about 30 days, I can expedite that if it makes a difference though.

@SidHarder Actually - while we're discussing it, what's the max memory we would need? I'm pricing out an HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen10 with 80 GB DDR4, which will be running ESXi. The CoPath Sybase database will be migrating to this server, and a few other VMs.

I'll let you decide where to put it, I just need 8-16 GB of Ram and a fast processor. 30-50 GB of hard drive space should be good for now. Keep in mind that the future goal is to build a Kubernetes cluster which would initially be comprised of three relatively inexpensive bare metal servers. Scaling occurs by simply adding additional servers.
