Make people feel appreciated (because they are!) and give them more ways to connect with us and get more use from our work.

Redraft:

Thanks so much for your donation

Generous contributions from people like you enable us to maintain our current projects and add new projects and features. Thank you.

Your receipt will be emailed to you by PayPal immediately. See the details of your contribution below.

We’re always keen to hear ideas or feedback from people supporting our work. If you have any questions or comments for us please don’t hesitate to email or connect with us on Twitter with @OpenAustralia or on our Facebook page.

By the way, did you know we run six projects?

They Vote For You

This latest project unearths the records of how your MP votes in parliament on the issues that matter to you. It’s also a growing free and open resource of every division (recorded vote) in Australian Parliament since 2006. So far almost 1000 votes have been summarised by citizens using the site. See They Vote For You

PlanningAlerts

This is our most popular project, it lets you know about proposed changes to your local area. PlanningAlerts collects development applications from your neighbourhood and then sends you a note whenever new ones are posted with a handy map. Citizens then use the site to send their council feedback on proposals. See Planning Alerts

OpenAustralia.org

Our first project OpenAustralia.org enables you to keep track of what your politicians are doing and saying on your behalf in Parliament. Search for topics that matter to you and get an email alert every time they are mentioned. See OpenAustralia.org

Right To Know

This project makes Freedom of Information (FOI) requests really easy so you can request new information from Federal Government authorities. The whole paper trail of the request is published enabling new transparency in FOI. Right To Know supports a new community of people helping each other make effective requests. See Right To Know

morph.io

This is a platform that lets people collect (or “scrape”) structured data off websites. It has a growing community of programmers from around the world. We use it ourselves to collect data for PlanningAlerts. See morph.io

Election Leaflets

This live election monitoring project allows people to upload and describe leaflets distributed during election campaigns. It’s been used in state and federal elections to bring new accountability for what is claimed and promised in the lead up to poll day. See Election Leaflets
