Here's our list of authorities https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1GAjCrDxfVl8eCDWxH69QpMwfNdbIohaTVE7iAfVLx5U/edit#gid=1148402063

Useful links for checking this:

So, “Department of Education - TAS“ becomes “Tasmanian Department of Education”.

I'm finding that neither [the government’s list]() nor [wikipedia’s] is comprehensive. Together they have lists under each department heading. I'll go through department by department checking for what we’re missing. I’ve seen that we're missing one or two from the first few departments already.

equivalentideas commented 8 years ago

Alright, we're missing a lot of authorities that people would want to request from I think. The gov’s listing has roughly 220 agencies. Our list has just over 100. An initial scan shows a lot that I think should be included so I'm gonna start going through by department methodically and adding agencies when appropriate.

equivalentideas commented 8 years ago

I'm through the education public authorities and I've added about 15 new authorities to our list.

equivalentideas commented 8 years ago

I'm continuing on, starting at 'health and human services' in the list above.

Here's the sheet https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1GAjCrDxfVl8eCDWxH69QpMwfNdbIohaTVE7iAfVLx5U/edit#gid=1148402063

Got through to the end of “Justice” department related agencies/bodies. Added another dozen authorities or so. My hands are feeling a bit RSI’d so that's enough for today.

equivalentideas commented 8 years ago

I'm kicking off again from Department of Police and Emergency Management

equivalentideas commented 8 years ago

Through the Police and Emergency Management department. A lot of what's under them in the gov’s listings have been moved over to Premier and Cabinet.

equivalentideas commented 8 years ago

On to Primary Industries, Parks, Water and Environment authorities

equivalentideas commented 8 years ago

Finished Primary Industries, Parks, Water and Environment

equivalentideas commented 8 years ago

State Growth divisions done, that's the last major department group

equivalentideas commented 8 years ago

Done Treasury and Finance

equivalentideas commented 8 years ago

Through another few types of authorities on the list. Checking Tassie Parliament now—also gonna look at what we did in SA for parliament.

equivalentideas commented 8 years ago

I pushed back the parliament stuff and kept working through other types of authorities. Done Offices, Tribunals, Other, Authorities, and Boards.

equivalentideas commented 8 years ago

On to courts.

equivalentideas commented 8 years ago

[x] I've now been through the government’s list and wikipedia and added lots of authorities. We've got another 27 authorities in our list that weren't on those lists. I'm going to go through them now and see if they're real authorities we want to keep.

equivalentideas commented 8 years ago

Checking Hospitals now. Like SA, hospitals are listed under regional health orgs. But none of them have their own website or contact emails. So I think best option is to list them all under that main health body’s notes, like https://www.righttoknow.org.au/body/sa_health

equivalentideas commented 8 years ago

I've done the same thing with Prisons, naming them in the notes under Tasmanian Prison Service. And Libraries/

equivalentideas commented 8 years ago

I’m through all the collecting different types of authorities in my list above. Now I need to check for duplicates and check that we don't have any bad emails, websites or notes.

Then that should be it, minus local councils.

equivalentideas commented 8 years ago

I'm happy with the list of authorities now. I'll do local councils next. The PlanningAlerts councils data will probably be handy.

equivalentideas commented 8 years ago

Council list looks good, I'll just check the count against our other data.

equivalentideas commented 8 years ago

Counts good 👍

equivalentideas commented 8 years ago

Local councils and the State authorities are ready to load.

equivalentideas commented 8 years ago

This is done and dusted https://www.righttoknow.org.au/body?tag=TAS_state and https://www.righttoknow.org.au/body?tag=TAS_council
