New contributor: where do you need help? #1310

Hi there, I'm interested in helping out with this project, but am not sure where you need help the most. I'm a software developer, but don't mind doing "non develop-y" stuff if that's what's needed. My first thought would be to look into the open "good for first contribution" issues. Even though a lot of them are old, they still appear relevant.

On a different topic, do you have links to what other people are doing with this data? For example, I wanted to see what the party stances were on each policy, rather than individual MPs. I whipped up a proof of concept, but did wonder if others have already done this and other interesting things:
