Hi, an interesting bounty, and a project. I am currently 250% busy and will not likely have time to take part but will definitely observe the outcome.

Kisgus commented 5 years ago

Hey @cryptomental thanks for the kind words. As you can see the competition will be running some time, and it has not even been officially announced yet - I hope you will find time to participate :)

Any idea on the initial conditions for the paper trading? My strategy would be very different depending on the starting account value. For example, should we assume a starting wallet of $500, $5000 or $50000, USD for the paper trading test? Things like volume requirements and dollar cost averaging strategies are dependent on account size and the feasibility of many of my strategies depends on knowing the initial conditions of the account.

Kisgus commented 5 years ago

Hey @noah222 thanks for your question. We will be using the openbot backtesting / papertrading UI, in its current form it assumes to start from one which stands for 100%, and the results of all trades are calculated in their percentage contribution.

Kisgus commented 5 years ago

Because we have only received one strategy submission, we have decided to extend the conference with additional 2 months.

aahutsal commented 5 years ago

@Kisgus is it sill actual (desc shows it's 4 months roadmap). Or you should close that issue?

Kisgus commented 5 years ago

Sure @agutsal it is still open. We do have very good trading bot infrastructure tech but no very good strategies at this point. Are you experienced in this field?

aahutsal commented 5 years ago

Thinking about always-win arbitrage strategy, but since it involves trading on 2+ exchanges at a time should first analyze this bot architecture.

Kisgus commented 5 years ago

Yes this multi-exchange broker architecture we have not yet implemented, it should be quite straight forward tho.

noah222 commented 5 years ago

Does the bot calculate fees on each transaction? It would be good to know more about the primary assumptions. Because the fee percentage per transaction can have a major impact on the effectiveness of a given strategy. Also, are you considering all orders to be market orders? Or are you simulating an orderbook where the orders are processed? What is the span of data that the bots will be tested on?

rootkc commented 5 years ago

Yes - it takes calculates fees based on Bittrex. We don't simulate the orderbook as is, we just calculate with the close price on the buy/sell candle. It's a naive approach and only for the MVP.
