Without reuse, a suitable Web API will have to be developed from scratch requiring significantly more effort. Currently the SWA-WG chair position is vacant. Ideally this position would be filled by an expert from a project with an existing candidate Web API that can be utilised by the project.
Mitigation
In the absence of an existing Web API, this working group is currently called the “Simple” Web API Working Group due to the intention to develop a simple and minimal API “on-the-fly” as required.
This Web API would only be intended for internal consumption by the OpenCDMS system and would not guarantee backwards compatibility.
