Make list of metrics/souces more prominent in the Readme #6

Echoing #5, this PR makes the list of sources more explicit and improves the formatting so that it is more obvious which metrics are supported by this repository.

The PR also makes the acknowledgment of the work in open-scm more prominent.

I don't think specific editor settings belong into project repos, they could go into your global .gitignore.

As for contributor acknowledgement i've tried to keep all history of the metric_conversions.csv file in this repo.
