Fixes #287

Updated numpy to 2.0.0
Fixed the subsequent broken tests by casting a couple of results to float.
I haven't had a chance to get to the bottom of exactly why the the update broke things. My hunch is it's something to do with NEP50 which was mentioned in the migration guide.
