Disqus?

+1

Instructions are here. It seems pretty sinple to install.

I think configuration will take most of the time on this task. I will have a look at it before the end of the week

chadwhitacre commented 10 years ago

Cool. Let's be sure they have a paid option so we don't end up with their ads on our site.

steveklabnik commented 10 years ago

I personally think blog comments aren't worthwhile. Would rather see response posts on their blog or HN/reddit.

That said, I don't care enough to try to block this, just waving a tiny opposition flag.

I'm with Steve. -1 https://twitter.com/AvoidComments

chadwhitacre commented 10 years ago

We just published our first real blog post, and in the footer I send people to Twitter for feedback. With -1s from @steveklabnik and @timothyfcook let's not make more work for ourselves here. Closing.

Reopening per call w/ @bronwenc.

@kyzh I guess let's revisit Disqus. They do have an option not to participate in their ad program. This could go in the blog post template above the new "Legal" section.

P.S. I adopted a different deployment strategy: rather than keeping history in two places, what do you think if we simply force-push the opencompany.github.io repo whenever we deploy (only ever one commit in there)? The idea is that we should be able to deploy from master in this repo at any time.

kyzh commented 10 years ago

@whit537 i will go for the disqus addition. Note: I agree with the general idea that comment on blogs then to produce less conversation than reddit/HN.

I understood the new deploy strategy. I will update the doc too

+1 for disqus (although their sorting algorithm doesn't seem to work very well...)

Now that we seem to be backing off the blog direction I think we should close this ticket.
