Can you set the DNS to 204.232.175.78 ? It will take less time to change the URL in the code and the CNAME file than the DNS to propagate.
@kyzh Better to use a CNAME, no?
https://help.github.com/articles/setting-up-a-custom-domain-with-pages
I've added tasks to the description for this ticket. Most of them involve @timothyfcook. Maybe another coworking day soon, Tim?
Sorry for the confusion above.
I meant CNAME
as the file named CNAME
not the reccord.
(Note: I tried to put more than one domain name in that file, that doesn't work)
Ah, okay. I meant CNAME instead of an A record for 204.232.175.78.
P.S. Thanks for working with me on this. Great to have someone else involved. :-) @timothyfcook Can we please add @kyzh to https://www.gittip.com/opencompanybiz/members/?
@whit537 I like the project and the technical level required to contribute is not too high :) Cannot wait to have more time to do more realy
Done! Welcome aboard @kyzh

Thanks @timothyfcook !
Would love to see it working. Now on repos there are URL-s that mislead users like me ;).
We transferred opencompany.org
from my Godaddy account to Tim's NearlyFreeSpeech.NET account, and we've got a day or two for the transfer to go through, we think. DNS is configured at NFS for GitHub pages, so once the transfer is done we should be good to go on that.
It'd be great to smart-redirect www.opencompany.biz to .org to preserve paths. We can't do that with GH pages, we could do that with a Heroku app though.
I realized I could/should just change DNS at GoDaddy as well as at NFS, so I did. Waiting for propagation ...
I just changed the CNAME to .org. Waiting for GitHub to notice ...
@timothyfcook Once this is done, www.opencompany.biz will be 404 at GH pages. Can you change it to redirect to www.opencompany.org instead?
@timothyfcook We should also update the homepage listed for https://twitter.com/OpenCompanyOrg.
@whit537 I created #opencompanyorg on IRC, invited people over and contacted @botbotme .
~~The IRC reference and gittip links to be fixed.
Same goes for the tanslations~~
Done
@kyzh How about shortening to #opencompany instead? I think we should prefer that where it's available.
+1 for #opencompany
Thanks, Luke Strickland

@whit537 @galuszkak @clone1018 the channel is already register to someone else. I will try to get in touch with the owner see if has a use of the channel. We can use #opencompany, but i cannot op, change the topic etc..
Actually it was registered by Eric Meltzer (@wheatpond http://theopencompany.net/). I will ask him on twitter what his toughs are about it.
According to Freenode guidelines, non-open source software projects should use a ##
for channel names. As we're not exactly one of those, ##opencompany
makes sense.
@steveklabnik I like it, it is now registered. I commited the change, but did not regenerated the content (don't want to do the same workaround from #80 ).
@kyzh Not sure why that was. It's updated now though afaict.
With the redirect in place (Twitter) I think this is done! :dancer:
@whit537 re-gittip statement: The link is on the old URL and seems to point to https://www.gittip.com/OpenCompany/www.opencompany.biz
@timothyfcook ^^^?
Fixed! Any other outstanding references? Although, since it redirects, could be fun to leave a .biz out there in the world...
Now that we have opencompany.org (#59) , we should start using it.
figure out with @timothyfcook how we do the accounting for thisDepends on #76, let's deal with this over there.OpenCoInitiative(matches the full name we're using on Twitter). Went with OpenCompanyOrg due to Twitter character limitOpenCoInitiative(to match Twitter). Went with OpenCompany to match GitHub.
