@ityonemo Ah, sorry. I think you were already there. :-)
I've been talking with @bronwenc in private email. Sounds like she's willing to give this a shot, and she's started upping her take. :-)
@bronwenc Don't forget to up your take. :-)
@bronwenc Bump. :-)
We're starting to get stories written and a little money available. @ityonemo has opened #72, and @bronwenc has a story on the way as well. We now have $47.25 / wk available on our Gittip account. We should rebalance our takes on that page. Recall that only you can set your take. No-one else can set it for you. Also, you can only grow your take double each week, so I think we'll need to keep this ticket open for a few weeks until we've settled where we need to be.
Personally, I've seen @kyzh doing great work on the infrastructure for the website, especially i18n and the French translation. I think he should up his take.
@ityonemo and @timothyfcook have been active as well (@timothyfcook Can we add @ityonemo to the team on Gittip, please?).
Mostly, though, I want to see @bronwenc take the lion's share at this point. She has very graciously written a piece for us, an interview with @matin. A big part of the OCI experiment is to see whether we can find a new model for journalism, in which writers like @bronwenc are fairly valued for their work by those they're writing about. The way I would see this working is that @bronwenc should up her take until it's in the $30 range (it'll take four weeks to get there because of the doubling limitation). I would expect her to leave her take there and not put any more active effort into the OCI until well after the summit in late March (#5). Ideally by then we'll see more money flowing through the system, and perhaps we'll see a story from @vielmetti and/or @Dispatches to boot.
We have eight weeks until the summit. If by then we have four stories from four authors, and perhaps $100/wk moving through the system, I think we'll have a compelling prototype to present to the world.
Any questions about how this is supposed to work? :-)
