That's exactly how I've been using it - ssptool's "Completion" report generates a table listing the state of each control in a designated profile (none/planned/partial/complete columns show a count of components with that status, or "unsatisfied" if none satisfy the control.) It's been very useful as a TODO list.
The current schema supports

, taken literately this means it can generate your still-need-to-do list otherwise known as theA Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&M)

to generate a csv file that could serve as a crude POA&M spreedsheet.
