Full debian on WebTop - Idea #316

We all know that there is no webtop in the Ba2tF cyanogenmod build. However,
I'm trying to put a full debian using chroot. I installed X packages, lxde, vnc
server, etc. Actually, debian works fine as a VNC server, but i wish to start
up X using the hdmi output. Is it possible using the last Ba2tF build?

Thank you guys!

Well, I guess you could install a VNC client from the market and use HDMI
mirroring

I have been thinking about this: I was going to post that there was an X server
runniong in the background, but I just checked and it isn't. BUT I know I have
seen it before, under CM7, so I don't know what it was.

I wish I had time to play about with this: getting a full Debian running
through HDMI would be fantastic!

Mmm.. what about that idea - we need use the same way as in official webtop.
X starts with android and when detecketed hdmi - it starts.
But.. we need speshilal xserver.
And for first - we need to use gento - it has hardfp - grate speed.

Sorry for my bad english, i'm from russia

The issue I had was with the HDMI orientation being stuck in portrait. I used
the Xoom Ubuntu chroot mod with android vnc just fine after a few edits to the
setup packages. and it works on cm7 and cm9. fyi webtops will never be "part of
the rom" it has to be a addon due to the img size and requirements for install.
I am working on a ubuntu version and will post info if needed in a new xda
thread when I am ready to release. Honestly this is a separate effort/project
all in it's own to build/maintain a full linux release as a addon.
