Ability to configure HDMI mirroring resolution #325

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
Phone (Int/AT&T/etc.):ATT
Radio:
CM Release (NO NIGHTLIES!): weekly-5-feb-2012
Hacks/Mods used: None
Kernel: Unified CM7 Kernel Version 024_r2 @ 1.3 GHz

What is the expected behavior?
It would be nice to have a menu where we could choose resolutions for HDMI
mirroring. Having multiple resolutions available would be useful for different
types of HD TVs (some can only do up to 720P). I think higher resolutions
would be more resource intensive, so having multiple resolution options would
give people a choice to lower the resolution to gain performance (maybe
increase battery life?).

What is the actual behavior?
Video through HDMI seems to be set at a somewhat low resolution and there
doesn't appear to be any options to change it.

What steps will reproduce the problem?

Can you reproduce this problem after a complete wipe/factory reset? (do not
restore any apps or settings when testing)

Possible workarounds:

I don't know how to "re-sign it with the same signature as the system" or I
would try this on my phone. I saw that thread today and thought that it would
be a nice feature to have on CM for the atrix.

This isn't possible to do, the phone proprietaries automatically upscale the
screen image to whatever the TV reports as native resolution.

The thread you link to only applies to blur ROMs and the blur mirroring system,
while CM7 uses the same system as LGE phones.
