Did you use OpenCV from the brew? What does cv2.getBuildInformation()
returns?
I installed OpenCV form pip.

This release is old (~1 year ago). Try to upgrade on latest versions or build OpenCV from sources (you need Xcode + cmake and something like brew's python/numpy/ffmpeg)

I have the same problem with 4.1.0.25.

"Illegal instruction: 4" is the only message printed. There is no stack trace.
I'm trying to read a video from a file as such:
video = cv2.VideoCapture("path_to_file.avi")
However, the program crashes with an Illegal Instruction 4. If the parameter is a path to a file that does not exist, the same error occurs.I've tried all versions from 3.1.0.4 from 4.1.0.25 on MacOS El Capitan 10.11.16.
