BME 280 problem #918

Since about six weeks ago my BME 280 has started to report 100 % humidity when it is raining. The sensor was installed almost a year ago and did not report 100 % at anytime until about six weeks ago. No known software changes were made at the time the problem started and the sensor itself has been untouched until a few days. (The sensor was taken indoors because of connection problems similar to the one in #915. The connection to the BME 280 was checked and seemed to be ok). The sensor is currently running Firmware: NRZ-2020-133/SE . During the six week with problem I have tried both the regular software and the beta. Without any difference when it comes to humidity measurement. To me this 100 % doesn't seems to be ok. Anyone got any idea what could be the cause of this?

Hello,

i had a similar problem after the sensor got too wett, it never recovered, i had replaced it an now it works again. Maybe you can try a different BME280.

Hi! Thanks a lot for you answer. My sensor should be protected from direct rain and any other fluids as it is located inside a tube. But as there is something wrong with the measurements of course the BME 280 could be the fault. A new BME 280 was ordered today and will be tested in the near future.

I bought a new BME280 a few weeks ago. I also bought a new MCU ESP8266. The issue with the node reporting 100% humidity is casued by the BME280. The sensor has been swapped between the two MCU's so there is no doubt about it. The faulty sensor shows right now 100 % while the new one shows 90 -95 % (over a 7 hour period). I suppose there is nothing I can do to fix the fault one.
