Opportunity Objective Create a native integration with Zoom videoconferences with an XBlock.

Market Evidence Pandemia has shown that many on premises classrooms can be moved on-line using videoconferencing systems. Among all, Zoom has shown an outstanding capacity, user experience, security, scalability and flexibility. Blended learning has become an option for those who need to move quickly their trining offering to virtual.

Proposal Specifics Currently it is possible to integrate Zoom using its LTI integration features. However, a native integration could benefit from their open APIs to improve user experience and add differentiated features, like:

If Zoom integration is not convenient, we could think of other videoconferencing systems, e.g.:

Success Measures We should be able to increase the number of customer offering a better approach to blended learning, that includes a seamless integration with virtual live sessions.

Discovery work - determine whether xblock is necessary or LTI is sufficient. See https://github.com/openedx/platform-roadmap/issues/105 for current work to enable Zoom integration via LTI into Degrees, Programs and Courses.
