See discussion that will determine scope of work.

Some of this is about the onboarding course, but it seems much of it is about the actual core contributor program which I cannot answer. I can make adjustments to the course when it's clearer what information should be in it.

@cassiezamparini I'm assigning this to you - I currently don't have the bandwidth to discover what's going on with the CC sprints, but if you can do so that'd be great. I'd love it if when you have the right info, you could edit your top level description with what needs to change in the course (rather than open questions). Thanks!

On it @sarina. I'll do so :)

@cassiezamparini Copying my reply from the forum thread - I think that's what you're asking me to do in the thread, but if there is any specific question or information I missed answering, let me know:

Thank you for checking this! +1 to all the remarks you’ve made, it’s definitely confusing. And more details about what exactly the new core contributor will need to do, what to expect out of it, and when the sprints and their steps are would definitely help :+1:

It would be helpful if the onboarding course linked to a schedule that outlines the start dates of each sprint. I’m not sure if this already exists?

I don’t think we have one currently, aside from inferring it from the report thread dates, or from the dates of the recurring contributor meetup, which happens exactly every two sprints. It could be useful though. The meeting is on a Tuesday, which is the first day of the new sprint – and end two weeks later on a Monday, thus the report deadline on Mondays evening. The other dates should likely be aligned to match that.

@cassiezamparini I'm glad you're doing this investigation; every time I receive the Sprint Retrospective and Planning questionnaire from Listaflow, I am confused by the dates! (both in Listaflow and in the email reminders).

sarina commented 1 year ago

I think I don't understand why it wouldn't just be Monday through the next Friday. That's how sprints have gone in every place I've ever worked.

I'm going to put together a poll about sprint lengths. And then at least we have a proper vote.
