Matt 7:6 better wording #240

OEB reads: "they might trample them under their feet, and then turn and attack you."

"attack you" translated from the greek word rēxōsin would seem to be better translated with the more descriptive: "tear you to shreds" or "Tear you to pieces."

Descriptive is good. NSRV has 'maul'. CEV and TEV unwind the abba chiasm which is tempting, it would then read:

Do not give what is sacred to dogs; they will turn and maul you. Do not throw your pearls before pigs; they will trample them underfoot.

Interesting. And agree that "maul" is also a good and seemingly more accurate term then the more generic "attack."
