backward compatible. relies on

apt-get => brew
sed => gsed + function wrapper
arch => uname
mktemp => function wrapper

Thanks for the update. What's with the strange curl error??

$  curl https://get.parity.io -Lk -r stable

Warning: have only digits in 'start'-'stop'. The server's response to this 
Warning: request is uncertain.

Can you also add a brew install of the gnu-sed package. A default image does not have the command.
