Hello,

I'm opening this PR as RFC and also to show you the low amount of effort to have this library to be compatible with PHP 8.0.

Let me know what you think.

I added a comment for each commit to keep track of what is needed to do in case we remove support of PHP 8.0 at some point.

This is now ready for review.
