Simplify small hub management : Do not make payments/shipping method mandatory

What is the need / problem?

For a small shop/hubs, there is only one shipping method (people come to pickup the products), and payment is made at this moment, either to each producer individually, or to the hub itself If no shipping/payment methods, do not ask for that information during checkout (so it would also be a simplification for customers)

Which type of users does this problem affect (and how many, if known)?

- Hub Managers (MCFEs)

Potential solutions that will solve the problem ?

• For me the best is to not make it mandatory to have shipping/payment methods
• Another solution could be to have a checkbox at the top of shipping/payment methods page "Do not ask for shipping/payment", but I do not like so much this one cause it actually adds one configuration, and idea is to simplify :)

Hello @seballot thanks for opening up this discussion. This one is really tricky to design into our ecommerce model.

However we are currently working on a new version of our checkout process that will enable to preselect automatically a shipping or payment method if this one is the only one available. Am I right that it would partially solve your need?

We should be able to start beta-testing the new checkout next month.

To go further on easing the journey for the customers, we could also later on work on the ability for them to save their preferred shipping / payment method on their profile.

Making shops work without payment method or shipping method demands quite a lot of re-thinking behind (deactivating invoices for example). So I'm not saying it cannot be done, just that it might take some careful thinking of how it affects the rest of the app / the shop legal requirements.
