Thanks for this @lauriewayne Do you have any information on funding available, or timescales you want to work to?
Or do you need any information on costings etc? I'm up for helping you get this delivered. Its a huge piece but much is on the general roadmap. Right now I'm not sure if we want this in 1yr or 5yrs :) That info will impact fundraising, prioritisation and recruitment.

Currently there is no technical information about the payment gateway so it is difficult to estimate for a full integration with their system. We'd need to support refunds meaning a pretty extensive integration.
On completion of 2b in here we would have a minimally viable SNAP implementation (once the payment gateway integration is also implemented). This suggests to me that we should be prioritising 1a-2b in this work on the road map.
From a quick chat with Laurie she is hoping to gain funding for $50-60kUSD a year for two years to fund this work
My proposal:
This is not a papercut moving, to feature request
What is the need / problem?
SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) in the US is the government food benefits program that has been in pilot for online for 6 years. Finally they have figured out how to bring it online. Other online platforms are planning to offer it soon. Without SNAP capability, OFN in the US will become very very niche, and enterprises that support people who need help buying food will have to choose other platforms.
Below is an initial list of requirements (from SNAP payment Processor): New payment method:
SNAP-specific requirements:
Handling of estimated pricing for items that are variably priced based on weight.
Having only one SNAP card provisioned to a customer account.
Ensuring only eligible foods can be purchased with SNAP benefits (this would be likely handled by the enterprise who would be responsible for designating products SNAP-eligible or not
Not charging sales tax on SNAP purchases. (again, up to enterprise, but functionality exists)
Allowing split tender transactions for the payment of non-SNAP eligible items and delivery fees. (I know there are several issues that are dealing with this one, but for now mostly working with Stripe?)
Which type of users does this problem affect (and how many, if known)?
e.g.
Potential solutions that will solve the problem ?[[brainstorming to list feature candidates]

Is Papercut or feature candidate?
