[Bug]: game appears to open twice on startup, then crashes (on r17) #83

Describe the bug.

this is the same issue that was said to have been fixed in revision-17, but it still occurs for me

the game launches, it plays the intro video (or it's skipped if using -novid), and then goes to a loading screen. after a bit. another copy of the game appears to open, with a different loading screen. after a bit more, the game then crashes

no server. crashes before getting to main menu

Reproduction steps

- launch the game, either via a batch script or through steam
- the stuff occurs as described above
- the game closes/crashes

issue resolved by swapping in patched client/server dlls from user 'maddie' on the discord: https://discord.com/channels/560557845993488386/611954531558752266/1143472478065275020
