This proposal will be discussed during the OGC-NA session on September 14th, 2021.

On 2021-09-14 the OGC-NA agreed on the following Action:

The OGC-NA Chair will register the International Astronomical Union (IAU) as an authority. After registration, OGC staff will engage with IAU representatives, the CRS DWG, and the future Planetary DWG to facilitate the future registration of planetary coordinate reference systems.
If the Planetary DWG does get established, it will become a lead advisor to the OGC-NA on registration of planetary CRS’s.
