Based on #219 and #206. Will only show changes once #219 is merged.

Adds back the commits:

@m-mohr - went to try to pick this up today, but it still says 0 file changes even though #219 is now merged. Let me know if you can get it working, or else I may just try for a new branch to try to bring Gobe's changes (plus some better readme stuff) in.
