Is GeoTIFF specification "baseline-only" or baseline + extended #11

GeoTIFF specification contains a baseline and one extended section 4, with tags that seem to be obsolete (to be confirmed). In the scope of this section, are "Digital Elevation Model information, such as Vertical Datums, Sounding Datums." that should be (at least partly) addressed by Vertical CS in 2.5.3.4 Vertical Coordinate Systems. Are there use cases for extended GeoTIFF? May be one use case is the multiple Tiepoints use case (n>3), or use of more than 1 Tiepoint with the ModelPixelScale ... to be discussed

Revision 1.1 is not modular baseline + extensions, and (nearly) as permissive as GeoTIFF 1.0, for backward compatibility reasons. So there is only a baseline specification in 1.1. Additional precisions (guidance) on use cases for Multiple Tiepoints ... is to be discussed.
