The SWIM NAS Common Reference (NCR) provides a framework and a service to enable consumers of data to request aeronautical, weather and traffic flow management information. It will provide spatial, temporal and attribute queries that span across many authoritative data services. It is plan to be operational in March 2020.
SWIM users will not only query realt time and historic data but also forecast data, enhancing their capability to make better decisions. For example, determining the position in the future of an aircraft or the status of an runway in an airport.
There are several standards that can provide time related data, such as WCS, commonly used in the environmental modeling domain to provide gridded forecasts data, moving features that provides a model to encode the position of features through time, and WFS 2.0 that provides the interface and sophisticated and flexible filtering that can support time queries of vector data.
The deliverables might be:
Analysis and recommendation of the best architecture and standards to support moving features and queries of forecast data for aviation
