At this week's GeoPackage Developer's Forum, there was a lot of interest in the convergence of these two activities that had been historically separate. The perception is that the technologies have evolved to the point that there is significant overlap between what one can do with them. This would allow people to use 3D Tiles, Collada, GLTF, CityGML, IndoorGML, OpenFlight, CDB, and GeoPackage together and therefore to operate the same way they train. Some of these formats work better as exchange formats than direct use (runtime) formats so some of the effort could focus on translation or mediation services to present data in a more usable format.
While GeoPackage could be an enabling activity for this sort of thing, the whole concept seemed too vast to be done completely under the GeoPackage umbrella. It felt like a Testbed thread to me.
