For floor plan and feature extraction, please consider scenarios involving Time of Flight cameras or Structured light sensing devices. A good example is GoogleTango devices and upcoming iPhone. Onboard computing power of these devices is quite interesting, but in some cases streaming raw data on the cloud for further processing or storing is required.
