Moving away from WMTS for map tiling and moving into pixelization color changing to change the map display in real time.

A few years back when HTML5 was new Landcare Research did a HTML5 WMTS server and client where all the tiles were videos, with each frame in a video representing data for a particular time. The client offered a single play button that played all the videos synchorously, and pan and zoom behaved as expected. The tile service covered the whole of NZ down to 10m pixels from memory. So my whatif is.. whatif the videos were real-time streaming services instead of premixed for a 25 yr historic timespan, as we had.
