YES! And many other issues:
There's a new OGC UXS DWG and then a couple groups that have been pushing for a global conversation on such for a while now
Earth Science Information Partners Federation Drone Cluster just ran a workshop on such with most of the relevant N. American orgs involved including OGC, USGS, NASA, ESRI, DJI, Sensfly... - presentations here
The Research Data Alliance sUAS data Interest Group will hold another session next month at the Montreal meeting, input welcome!
EU doing significant stuff including this group OPTIMISE which is pioneering (~4 workshops already completed) on sUAS data best practices for spectral sensing. Currently they're soliciting input via a survey
Australian's just ran a great webinar series on drones in research that touches on these issues
At the suggestion of science users we [RDA group] made a github wiki that could perhaps be a platform for global discussion of proposed best practices. More input definitely welcome!
We [RDA group again] wrote blog on the issue - 6 month out of date now but still I think a relevant summary of the issues and groups involved
And another relevant player - already connected to OGC - OpenSensorHub - youtube demo
P.S I've seen the youtubes but am otherwise unfamiliar with OGC testbed process but all of the above is to say the above is a big and important topic which will only be resolved through significant global community engagement, would be fantastic to see more involvement from all parties preferably by engaging sectors already involved rather than creating additional extra stand alone groups
Hello Jane. I'm pleased to see the RDA meeting in Montreal. I'll see if CRIM can attend somehow. By coincidence, I will attend a collocated event at about the same time by the International Coalition on Science Gateways. I'll keep in touch.
Please look at https://github.com/opengeospatial/testbed14-ideas/issues/8, somewhat related to this one. I added a reference of work done at CRIM with UAVs.
Related effort with OGC interest if anyone's interested: The next VOCamp will have some people to talking about/work through a these issues as regards Vocabularies and Ontologies.
Basic idea (in process of being discussed, interest welcome) is to explore a basic draft set of minimal metadata required for a science drone data pipeline/workflow and evaluate what ontologies are available and applicable, and where there might be holes.
Develop guide that advance management of UAV data:
