What are Requirements for Time-sensitive PoI? #57

Open cperey opened 2 years ago

We want to know the state of a PoI at a specific point in time (date/time).

Are the values determined by time?

Fundamental Q: is a PoI referencing an instance of a feature of interest, or is the PoI referencing a collection of a feature over time?

A layer of abstraction between the abstract POI and the POI itself: a template.

Chuck's suggestion: there could be templates. One template would be for static and another for dynamic.

Another use case for this dynamic template: some POIs change their names at specific points in time.

Do you want to know the state of a POI or of the Feature(s) that the POI describes?

I would love to bring TemporalProperties (Moving Features JSON) into the mix. But until Moving Features are more main-stream, I think that would just sow confusion.

propose this as an extension to the POI Data Model (v1.1) when the moving features model is more stable.
