Research and explore TN-ITS initiative and how it is relevant to POI #78

Open cperey opened 1 year ago

During January 12 meeting, Francois raised the question of how POI conceptual model handles traffic information such as speed limits and if there is any conflict or overlap with the TN-ITS initiative.

ACTION: Koen de Baets will look into it and share what he learns with us.

I have worked a lot with the TN-ITS specification and participated in the development of the specification. I have changed jobs now and do not work with TN-ITS anymore, but I can still support you if you have any questions. Or you should reach out to Stephen T'Siobbel from ERTICO (s.tsiobbel@mail.ertico.com), @tsiobbel

Koen reports: the model is pretty generic. Could be a part of a road, or a road sign. A feature has one or many properties and these properties can be pretty generic. Some could be interesting for POI: EV charging station, parking lot, etc.

Koen has requested the UML for the TN-ITS (but has yet to receive) but from the web site, gather that the data model they use is for transport network and has a key feature type "route" and another specifically for updating.

This project is not only about the roads themselves, but also how to update (send messages to vehicles, etc).
