GeoPackage is becoming ever more relevant for GeoDataProvision, e.g., becoming integrated into INSPIRE via a Good Practice. This could become a relevant format for STA, both to serve off of as well as a response format.

I have been testing GeoParquet as a candidate file format for storing data retrieved from public SensorThings API deployments. The preliminary results are promising and have shown a 10x compression in file size compared to Postgres DB. Will share more details here as I do some more benchmarking

GeoParquet and GeoPackage are two different things, so please make a separate topic for GeoParquet. Probably best as a Discussion at first.
