Hello,

As already written in the title, is there any chance to create qpkg with snapshop 2.1?`

thx

Hey @CaptMauser,

I'm sorry to say that my NAS is currently being repaired. From the beginning I had strange issues with it, eg. just random reboots or even worse multiple reboots when sending data via SMB. Since the package is being built on the NAS itself, I can't provide a package at the moment.

Afaik, @kaikreuzer already wrote about that in the forums, after I let him notice two days before.

Hi, hope your NAS will be ready soon :) cheers

Thanks! And let's hope the problem is then also gone!

Hello thopiekar,

I would like to confirm my interest in an openHAB2.1 qpkg. Currently I tried to migrate from OH1.8 to OH2 but I feel there are still a lot of bugs (e.g. discovery and linking of channels for homematic things does not work reliable, is very slow with a lot for retries etc.) and I hope to overcome these and other issues with a newer version of openHAB.

Kind Regards, Axel

any news about your QNAP?

thopiekar commented 7 years ago

@AxelKaske Well, in that case contact the maintainer of the homematic binding. I can imagine he can blame it on the QNAP, but to be honest all openHAB needs is a recent JRE installation (and noticed QNAP already provides a more recent one with new certificates for the openhab cloud :+1: ) and this is all. So if the binding doesn't work, because the CPU is too slow, then it is a fault in programming. The only limit I can see is the needed amount of RAM. I recommend a NAS with 1GB RAM, like my TS-228 has.

@Stefan39135 Got my NAS back and so far to crashes. The repair report says they made nothing, but I don't believe it. Before I designed a setup over here, which was able to stress the SMB connection. So during hours I had over 100 reboots. I don't know How long I made the test and how many reboots it were exactly, but I have the dump report somewhere. It was basically copying a backup of my home directory to the NAS and compare whether the files are the same with a SHA checksum. If both are the same (to check whether there is a data leak), then it was removing the file. Finally removing all empty directories and at the end, if everything went good then there was a empty home directory again. During this my setup was able to reconnect to the NAS after each restart. But yeah, the technician at QNAP's helpdesk was totally helpless at this point (and I was totally annoyed.) Now I'm just asking them how it comes. For me it looks like they replaced the mainboard at least with the ethernet controller (incl EEPROM), because the MAC address changed.

However, I'm in the Netherlands again and will make a stress test first before believing in this product again. After that I will continue here. Got already good news: I investigated sometime in how to create a custom store in the App Center and found a way. So in the future, when we have a secure update/upgrade procedure then we can make automatic updates and install openHAB from this store, too.

Hello thopiekar,

Any luck with your NAS? Could you get the problem Fixed?

Anything we can help?

Stefan

thopiekar commented 7 years ago

Well, at least the customer service confirmed weeks before, that the issue is known. Today I got an notification that there is an update and checked the changelog. According to it they fixed a problem with the Samba server, which is crashing when having files with names starting with ._ or something like that. However, I made the update and I try to reproduce my problem again. If the NAS doesn't crash then it is fine, but I don't believe that anymore.

But many thanks for asking how it is 👍 Well, what you can do in the meantime is to read the qdk manual, how to build a package and how the whole packaging system works. I think it is very useful, if you like to participate.

As soon as my NAS is stable again or you manage to build something, you can feel free to document how to build the package here in the README.md.

See you!

@CaptMauser , there is now a version for openHAB 2.2.0 But please be aware that you can't jsut update due to some issues in the userdata config files.
