I've been waiting for Scott's addon to become final instead of going this route here, it's here and easier to install / less prone to error: https://community.openhab.org/t/beta-testers-wanted-jython-addon-w-helper-libraries-requires-oh-2-5-x/86633/1

We should also change EXTRA_JAVA_OPTS and coordinate that with the changes applied by openhab_misc()

I've decided to put this on hold, with OH3 to arrive there will hopefully be an integration (under discussion but it won't make sense to start without that's decided). Eventually reopen if there's significant news.
