There's a plugin that does this. Comes with Twitter, Facebook, Google+ and Email as default, which I'm not thrilled with. We should decide if we want to keep all of the proprietary social networking sites and if we can add some open sites like Identica. The plugin looks easy to extend, but I'm not sure how easily sites like Identica allow for this kind of thing.

It's usually quite doable to extend things like this to support e.g. Identi.ca, for what it's worth.
