patients lost from discharge list #10

Every Monday morning we have a meeting going though the discharges from the previous week - checking coding, consultant allocation, results etc I have noticed these last couple of weeks that patients who have been discharged from the Tropical team, have not made their way onto the 'Discharged' list

Missing patients seem to be those who, on discharge from the ward, still have things outstanding Therefore, on their discharge from the ward the "Discharge - Outstanding Results for Follow-Up" button is ticked Once the outstanding things are done, the "Discharge" button is then clicked I wonder whether, when a patient goes from "Discharge - Outstanding Results for Follow-Up" to "Discharge", they are not added to the 'discharged' list?

Is there any way of checking this? I can send through some patient names / numbers if that would be helpful

Don't follow-up patients stay on the original list?

That was my understanding...

jonnylambourne commented 9 years ago

They do, until the outstanding jobs are done, then they are discharged and disappear off the in-patient list, and should move to the discharged list. It is this final step that I think may not be happening

davidmiller commented 9 years ago

So that's correct - they don't become 'Discharged', they become 'Unfollowed'.

This is how we set things up back in the mists of 2013.

The relevant issue is https://github.com/openhealthcare/opal/issues/102

Changing this would be something we'd want to consult on slightly wider :)

Thoughts @michaeledwardmarks @GabPoll ?

Thanks David. Whether patients go directly to 'Discharged' or get there via "Discharge - Outstanding Results for Follow-Up", they need to be reviewed at the weekly coding meeting (and go onto the Final Diagnosis Review list) @michaeledwardmarks @GabPoll

Happy to do this - in many ways it makes more sense, would be much more in line with the way we use the category field elsewhere.

Agree with this. You should go on the discharge review list pretty much regardless of what the category that was selected was essentially (i.e any of discharged, discharged-with follow-up, transferred, died). I think the only one that shouldn't lead to being on the list is "No longer under active review"

Ok - this is really an elcid ticket but we can fix it from here now that we've had the conversation :)

michaeledwardmarks commented 9 years ago

Cool. Only just noted it was in the wrong repository!

jonnylambourne commented 9 years ago

neat, thanks both

This is solved by the new "Discharged last week" VWR from openhealthcare/elcid#364.

Discharge with follow up sets the discharge date. The episode will appear in the Discharged VWR for one week after that date.

If you think there are still issues with dropping patients, do open an issue at https://github.com/openhealthcare/elcid/issues :)
