configure should handle --prefix #10

You should be able to specify a destination to make install to. Configure with --prefix is the first part of this.

i see @lemenkov has been doing some work on this.

Yeah as discussed elsewhere, CMake or Autotools will solve this. Kind of a pointless issue on its own.
