hi @lecondon — thank you for your submission to JOSE. We've had the journal in a holding pattern since the pandemic hit, mainly because I became overwhelmed with pivoting online teaching, research, and JupyterCon (I was General Chair). Thank you for your patience. I am beginning to dig up from a long backlog, so you'll begin seeing some movement.

Could you help with some leads of people we might reach out to for a review of this work? Many thanks!

labarba commented 3 years ago

@marda-science has agreed to be the first reviewer for this submission—thank you!!

We'll be looking for a second reviewer, and then start the REVIEW issue, where all the action happens. Meanwhile, you could have a look at an old example review: you'll get a checklist as shown there to guide you in the review, and you'll be encouraged to open issues on the submission repository (adding a cross-link with the review). Feel free to start inspecting the submission in the target repository: https://github.com/hydroframe/SandTank

lecondon commented 3 years ago

Hi Lorena,

No worries about the timing. I’m clearly a bit behind too.

Are you still looking for a second reviewer? Here’s one name. I can come up with more too if you need.

Thanks,

Laura

@lecondon Just to give an update, I haven't heard from Nick. I'll follow up, but if you have other suggestions I'd be glad to hear them!

@jsta 👋 — I have just sent you email, as well ... wondering if you could help us by contributing a review for this submission to JoSE: ParFlow Sand Tank: A tool for groundwater exploration https://github.com/openjournals/jose-reviews/issues/92

labarba commented 3 years ago

@marda-science – hi! 👋 You agreed to contribute a review for JOSE, the Journal of Open Source Education, a few months back. The process stalled as we have so far failed to find a second reviewer. Could you pop in the Pre-review issue on GitHub and drop us a line to say if you are still willing to review this submission?

@DamienIrving – hi! 👋 You have published with JOSE in the past, and I wonder if you would consider now contributing a review. We are in need of some help with this submission:

Thanks for considering it!

DamienIrving commented 3 years ago

Sorry, @labarba. Ordinarily I'd be happy to be a JOSE reviewer but this one is a bit far out of my area of expertise both in terms of the subject matter and the software packages involved.

bryanwweber commented 2 years ago

Hi @leouieda, you previously signed up to be a reviewer for JOSE, the Journal of Open Source Education. Would you please consider reviewing this submission? Thank you for your consideration!

leouieda commented 2 years ago

Hi @bryanwweber thank you for the invitation! I'm a bit hesitant to accept since my time is very limited at the moment and I'm not familiar with a majority of the software stack used and only tangentially aware of the subject matter. Under ideal conditions I would welcome the chance to learn more about docker and JS but I'm afraid that I would not have the time to invest at the moment. So my contribution may not be that useful and I would fear holding back the review process.

bryanwweber commented 2 years ago

Thanks for letting me know @leouieda!

labarba commented 2 years ago

@lecondon — @Bryan Weber has started a new job in Coiled and has decided to step down from the JOSE board, as he does not think that he will be able to carve out time to volunteer with us. We will be re-assigning this submission to a new editor soon. Thank you for your patience! 🙏

labarba commented 2 years ago

@JasonJWilliamsNY – We need a new editor to take over this submission: can you help?

JasonJWilliamsNY commented 2 years ago

JasonJWilliamsNY commented 2 years ago

@lecondon I'll follow up this week to see if we can get this off the ground. Thanks for your patience!

Hello Dr. Condon,

I am a new(-ish) editor at the Journal for Open Source Education. I am on assignment to clear out submissions that had been unfortunately backlogged due to COVID. I wanted to reach out by email (can be hard to keep track of GitHub notifications) to confirm you’d like to continue publication of this with JOSE. If so, I wanted to see that the timing is right on your end as I recruit reviewers so that the process can be as smooth as possible once review begins.

Please let me know what you think and I can follow up.

Thanks,

HI Jason,

Thank you for your email. Yes to be honest we had pretty much given up on this. If it can proceed that’s great though. I will be on maternity leave after June 30th but I think my co-authors could probably handle the revisions.

Thanks,

Luara
