Hi. I'm just on annual leave this week but can take this on Monday
:zap: thanks @will-rowe! I'll go ahead and assign you this now.
@whedon assign @will-rowe as editor
OK, the editor is @will-rowe
Thanks for your reviewer suggestions @akrinos. Let's ping some and see if they can take this on.
Hi @johanneswerner and @jcmcnch. Would either of you be willing to review this submission to JOSS?
Hi @will-rowe, I am interested in reviewing the submission.
@whedon assign @johanneswerner as reviewer
OK, @johanneswerner is now a reviewer
Brill - thanks @johanneswerner! Hang tight while we find a second reviewer and then we will start the review thread
Hi @will-rowe, I would be willing to review Arianna's tool, but in the interests of full disclosure her PhD advisor Harriet is a friend of mine from grad school. Don't know if that presents a conflict of interest from your perspective as an editor. Also FYI I'm also more of a biologist/oceanographer type, so may not offer as useful feedback wrt software design as a true full-blooded bioinformatician (though I am trying to learn this sort of thing myself and am familiar with python). I could be probably most useful simulating the naive user trying to install/use the software and as a skeptical eye towards how well the annotation works. Finally, before I commit fully, is there a timeline that you require? I'm a little busy these days but think I could find time in the coming ~3 weeks to get to this.
Hi @jcmcnch - thanks for getting back to me. I don't think this presents a conflict of interest.
I think your background makes you a great potential reviewer for JOSS - have a look at the reviewer criteria and see if you think you can assess these points. Usually you don't need to be a bioinformatician/developer to complete a review for us. If you want, I can always help with points you don't feel confident with.
That timeline is fine for me - within a month would be great.
If all this is okay with you and you still want to review for us, please write back and we can start the reviews.
@will-rowe OK sounds good, I'm in!
Great! Thanks @jcmcnch.
I'll start the review thread, which you all will get tagged in. Anyone questions, let me know.
@whedon add @jcmcnch as reviewer
OK, @jcmcnch is now a reviewer
@whedon start review
OK, I've started the review over in https://github.com/openjournals/joss-reviews/issues/2817.
